PLUMBAGO
This conceptual source of illumination shows the functioning of an incandescent light bulb. We often forget the true essence of a lamp, radiating light. Nowadays the shade and the form are more important than the lightsource itself.

This project brings back the base of what a lamp actually is all about. Therefore, the form and materials that are used are completely serving their meant function. They are only contributing to the functioning of the lightsource.

The graphite glows due to the high temperature it reaches.
This temperature is acquired through a low voltage powersource. The graphite doesn't start to burn because of the oxygen deficient atmosphere it is enclosed in. The glass vase contains argon which doesn't interact with chemical reactions.
